Sailing that makes a difference
Building confidence, friendship, and inclusion through sailing.
Who we are
Carsington Sailability Trust is a registered charity with a simple but powerful mission: To provide and support water-based activities at Carsington Sailing Club for people with a range of health conditions from physical to intellectual disabilities. Our mission is to help support and improve the lives through access, confidence, and freedom on the water.
We believe in the positive impact of sailing: the joy, the independence, and the wellbeing it brings. Every session is designed to support individuals who might not otherwise get the chance to take to the water.
What we do
Through Carsington Sailability, the Trust provides access to an exciting fleet of specially adapted boats, along with essential safety equipment, buoyancy aids, hoist slings, and launch/recovery tools.
This equipment makes sailing safe, supported, and inclusive for people of all mobility levels.
We’re also committed to ongoing investment and maintenance—from replacing hoists to upgrading boats—so that every sailor has the best possible experience.
What We Offer
⛵Accessible Sailing
We offer supported sailing for people of all ages with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, or mental health conditions. Our specially adapted boats make it safe and easy for everyone to enjoy time on the water, whether it’s your first time sailing or your fiftieth.
♿ Specialist Equipment
Using our transfer hoist, hoist slings, and safety equipment, we help individuals with limited mobility safely get in and out of boats. Every session is guided by trained volunteers to ensure comfort, dignity, and safety.
🤝 Community
Our sessions offer more than just sailing—they’re a space to connect, build confidence, and enjoy the outdoors. Whether you're sailing or volunteering, you’ll be part of a friendly, supportive community that puts people first.
Run by Volunteers, Driven by Heart
Carsington Sailability is run entirely by our incredible volunteers—people who give their time, energy, and care to help others experience the joy of sailing.
You don’t need sailing experience to volunteer. Whether you want to help with equipment, support guests, lend a hand on the water, or just offer a friendly face—we’ll find the right role for you.
