Our volunteers are the beating heart of everything we do — from welcoming new sailors to guiding boats safely across the water. A Day as a Volunteer
(Or just a half day)
We usually start around 9.30 and get some boats rigged and launched. The officer of the day will brief us on what we need based on the expected number of sailors. It’s then time to assist sailors which depending on their needs may be very little or complete support including transferring to a boat using a hoist. Many sailors are experienced and sail independently others may need a volunteer to be in the boat with them. Once the boats are out on the water it’s time for a coffee before they return to shore. After sailing it’s lunch in the clubroom. There will usually be some more sailing in the afternoon, then it’s time to put the boats away. Some of these tasks require expertise and training and this will be provided for all new volunteers. You can do as much or as little as you feel able and whether you can commit to every week or just once a month is fine with us.
